Inflation edges higher

Dearer computer games and books helped push inflation upwards. The Consumer Prices Index (CPI), which excludes housing costs and is the government’s preferred measure, rose by 2.0% in February compared to a 1.9% rise for January.

Inflation under the more widely recognised Retail Prices Index (RPI) was unchanged at 2.4%.
