Stress management works, says research

New research carried out for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has shown that giving workers more control of their work can reduce stress, staff turnover and absenteeism.

Researchers from the University of London also found that intervention in other areas covered by the HSE’s stress management standards — such as support, relationship and role — also had benefits for workers and employers.

Their report, A business case for the management standards for stress (RR431), can be downloaded from www.hse.gov.uk/research/rrpdf/rr431.pdf
