Energy prices drive up inflation

Higher energy prices have helped to fuel an increase in prices. The Retail Price Index (RPI) rose to 3.3% in June - its highest level since December 2004 - from 3.0% the previous month.

The Consumer Prices Index (CPI), which excludes housing costs and is the government's preferred measure, is also on the rise, with a 2.5% rise in June.
