Number of jobless is on the up

Unemployment rose by 21,000 in the three months to February to 1.69 million under the Labour Force Survey (LFS) count, which is the government's preferred measure and includes people not eligible for benefits.

Under the claimant count, which only includes those drawing Jobseeker's Allowance, it fell by 9,200 to 910,800 in March.
