General council

Bob Crow, general secretary of the RMT rail union, lost his seat on the general council this year after being re-elected 12 months ago. In the only area of the general council membership where there was a vote, Crow failed to obtain one of the 11 seats for unions with fewer than 100,000 members. He has been replaced by John Smith, general secretary of the Musicians’ Union.
