Petrol price pushes up inflation

Inflation is on the increase again, on the back of higher petrol prices at the pumps. In October, the Retail Prices Index (RPI) rose by 4.2% — up from 3.9% the previous month.

Meanwhile, inflation under the Consumer Prices Index (CPI), which excludes housing costs and is the government’s preferred measure, rose to 2.1% against 1.8% in September. Similar reasons for the RPI rise were given.
