Semiconductors pose cancer risk

Workers in the semiconductor industry face a higher risk of getting cancer because of their work, according to the Unite union.

It believes that studies in Scotland and the West Midlands indicate that there may be long-term health risks to current and former workers in the semiconductor, chip and computer sector.

The union wants the industry and government to stop quibbling about who should pay for more research, and start a national study on risks in the industry.
