Union density

The proportion of women employees who are union members remained stable at 29.6% in 2007 but this figure outstripped the male one for the sixth consecutive year. Men’s “union density” slipped from 27.0% to 26.4%.

The annual Labour Force Survey figures on union membership show that overall density among employees fell by 0.3 percentage points over the year to 28.0%, but those whose pay was affected by collective agreements rose.
