NUJ office sale

The NUJ journalists’ union plans to sell its London headquarters and move into shared accommodation with the BECTU broadcasting union and the GFTU small unions federation.

The union’s national executive has approved putting the HQ up for sale, which it hopes will raise £1 million. The NUJ says the plans should save it around £100,000 a year, which it needs as it is currently looking for £450,000 to balance its 2009-10 budget. It also has a £2 million shortfall in its pension fund.
