TUC picketed

Last month, Paul Kenny of the GMB general union and Jeremy Dear of the NUJ journalists’ union joined campaigners outside TUC headquarters to protest against the TUC’s decision to let Associated British Foods, owner of retailer Primark, hold its AGM at Congress Centre. The campaigners say Primark’s Bangladeshi workers are on poverty wages and are brutalised by police.

While the TUC pointed out that ABF “has good relations with UK unions“, a War on Want report said factories supplying Primark and other firms “fiercely oppose” trade union activity.
