Prices take upward turn

Inflation rose from 1.8% in the year to April to 2.1% in the year to May largely as a result of more expensive seasonal foods.

There was a slightly bigger jump in the underlying rate which excludes mortgage interest payments. This rose from 2.0% to 2.4% - the highest level for over two years.
