Tackling violence at work

Violence at work is not just about physical assault. Often it takes the form of threats and abuse which can have an equally devastating effect on those who experience it. Research shows that at least 1.2 million violent incidents take place at work each year, and that anyone who works with the public is at risk.

A new LRD booklet, Violence at work - a safety rep's guide looks at what can be done to tackle violence and aggression at work. It outlines the law, considers who is most at risk and looks at guidance from unions and the Health and Safety Executive on how to address this issue.

Violence at work - a safety rep's guide is available from LRD, 78 Blackfriars Road, London SE1 8HF. Single copies of the booklet cost pst3.30 but there are substantial discounts on bulk orders. For details contact 020 7928 3649.
