UCATT election

The general secretary of the UCATT construction union, Alan Ritchie, will face a challenge in next month’s election as leader of the union. Ritchie, who took over the position in 2004, faces his five-yearly election test under the law on general secretaries’ periods of office.

The only other candidate validly nominated so far is London regional organiser Michael Dooley, who was also Ritchie’s rival five years ago.
