Inflation rate still negative

Inflation edged higher but was still in negative territory. Under the Retail Prices Index measure, it was minus 1.1% in May, up from minus 1.2% the previous month.

Under the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) measure, which excludes housing costs, inflation slowed with a rise of 2.2% — down from the 2.3% figure in April. It was at its lowest figure since January 2008.
