Youth join UNISON

Young people are joining public services union UNISON in record numbers, the union reports. In the first half of 2009, 12,472 signed up to the union — 1,566 more than in the same period a year earlier.

The union says the main factors leading them to join are financial insecurity, ageism, bullying, stress and fears about the far-right BNP.
