Inflation rises — to minus 0.8%

Inflation has accelerated closer towards a positive figure, but was still in negative territory for an eighth consecutive month.

Under the Retail Prices Index (RPI), inflation rose to minus 0.8% in October against minus 1.4% in September, according to the Office for National Statistics.

Consumer prices inflation rose to 1.5% in October. It is forecast to rise by 1.7% in the final quarter of 2009.
