Anti-cuts campaign

Unions can use the anti-cuts campaign to strengthen their membership and organisation, according to the TUC.

A leaflet urges unions to run recruitment drives and inspire existing members to put themselves at the centre of community and workplace activity to defend public services. The leaflet says: “Talking to non-members in the context of the cuts programme can be an effective way of getting them to think again about joining the union.”

Meanwhile, the Public and Commercial Services union is urging its branches to use the situation to enhance recruitment and organising through gathering information on cuts and participating in campaign activities. It has produced a short pamphlet to be used by branches in this work.
