Carbon capture

There is an urgent need to invest in carbon capture and storage (CCS) otherwise the jobs of 10,000 people directly employed in the coal mining and coal power industries are at risk, warned the Clean Coal Task Group (CCTG) at a recent meeting in Westminster.

The CCTG — which the TUC and seven of its affiliated unions are members of — also warned that without investment the UK risks missing out on becoming a world leader in the emerging low-carbon technology.
