Elderly care

The GMB general union has criticised a report from the cross party health select committee on elderly care for staying silent on the issue of regulation.

Justin Bowden, GMB national officer for members employed in the care sector, said the committee was right to highlight the funding crisis and the funding gap, but that its report falls short in many respects.

“It fails to call for statutory minimum entitlements of care,” he said. “It stays silent on the regulation of the companies providing it.”
