TUC appointment

The TUC has appointed a second assistant general secretary following last December’s decision to scrap the position of deputy general secretary.

Paul Nowak, former head of the TUC’s organising and services department (OSD), last month became the third and final member of the TUC’s senior management team, alongside general secretary Frances O’Grady and assistant general secretary Kay Carberry.

He will be responsible for inter-union relations, Congress and the regional offices of the TUC.

Nowak was one of the first intake of the TUC’s Organising Academy in 1998. He became head of the OSD in 2009.
