Homophobia

A report by Bournemouth University shows that homophobic behaviour is frequently going unchallenged in school and college sport.

In response, TUC general secretary Frances O’Grady said that the TUC has been working with the Professional Footballers’ Association and a number of grass roots campaigns to try and change attitudes and behaviours.

But she called for more help from the government and sporting authorities to turn their words into action.

“Homophobic behaviour must be challenged where and when it happens, not dismissed as harmless banter,” she said.
