Construction deaths

The T&G general union has produced a dossier of deaths on construction sites during 2000-01. One year on covers the worst year for deaths in the construction industry in the last decade. The common thread running through the dossier is that almost every death could have been prevented if management had taken action. The report says that, despite blitzes by inspectors, the death toll remains too high, and the union are calling on government to introduce stringent legislation, including a corporate killing law.
