Tribunal taskforce monitors reforms

The government is giving the Employment Tribunal System Taskforce a longer-term role to monitor how its reform proposals are being implemented.

Initially set up to make proposals on how the tribunal system could be reformed, the Taskforce will now keep a close watch on how the reforms are handled.

The Taskforce wants to see greater emphasis on the prevention of disputes, including more involvement from the conciliation service ACAS.

It also recommended that the tribunals should be given better resources and that generally there should be more investment in the system.

The changes are due to come into force next April.
