Elder abuse

Nearly nine out of 10 district and community nurses have come across elder abuse during their work, according to new research.

A survey for the Community and District Nursing Association (CDNA) analysed by the Labour Research Department found that 88% of nurses had encountered elder abuse. In the majority of cases a family member inflicted the abuse.

The CDNA is calling for mandatory training of nurses who work with vulnerable adults.
