Learning reps' rights

We understand that there are new rights for union learning reps. What are they and when do they come into force?

The new law gives union learning reps the same rights to time off as are available to union reps provided that the reason for the time off is to do with analysing, providing information and advice, arranging or promoting learning or training. The new law, which is based on provisions in the Employment Act 2002, came into force on 27 April 2003.

* More information: This month LRD will be publishing a new booklet on time off for union and learning reps - tel: 020 7928 3649 for details.
