Inflation hits seven-year high

Inflation was at a seven-year high under the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) measure. The CPI, which excludes housing costs, rose to 2.0% - up from 1.9% for the previous three months. Higher prices for food, clothing and footwear contributed to the rise.

Inflation under the Retail Prices Index (RPI) remained at 2.9% in June.
