Jobless count rises once more

Unemployment under the Labour Force Survey count, rose by 177,000 to 2.1 million in the three months to February 2009 on the previous three-month period. This count includes people who are looking for work but not eligible for benefits and is the government’s preferred measure. Under the claimant count (those claiming JSA), unemployment rose by 73,700 to 1.39 million in March.
