Chapter 6

Time limits

[ch 6: page 198]

The time limit for all discrimination cases is three months from the date of the discriminatory act. Since 6 May 2014, the first step in any claim is to submit an Acas Early Conciliation Notification Form, available from the Acas website. This step is mandatory and must be taken within the three-month time limit. See Chapter 13 for information about Acas Early Conciliation.

Take care with time limits. In particular, members should remember that the three-month time period for bringing a claim continues to run, even though the member is still waiting for the results of their grievance and any appeal.
