In this case, the Supreme Court ruled that an organisation can be liable for harm done to a worker by someone who is not their employee but who is carrying out activities as an integral part of the organisation’s business and for its benefit, where the risk of the wrongdoing (for example, personal injury, discrimination or harassment) results from that organisation’s decision to give responsibility to the wrongdoer.
