Labour’s New Deal for Working People included a commitment to bring in “tougher penalties for those who break the law or fail to comply with tribunal orders, including personal liability for those that were directors of companies at the time”. However, Labour’s Plan to Make Work Pay — Delivering A New Deal for Working People, published after the July 2024 general election was called (see Introduction) does not refer to personal liability for directors.
