LRD guides and handbook October 2024
Health and Safety Law 2024
The HSE guidance now makes clear that employers must carry out an individual risk assessment covering a worker’s specific needs when they inform their employer, in writing, that they are pregnant; have given birth in the last six months; or are currently breastfeeding. Some working conditions and processes can potentially harm them and/or their child so the guidance states that employers must assess and control the risks posed “in each case”. It also makes the point that gig economy, agency and temporary workers should be treated in the same way as other workers.
