Health and Safety Law 2024
The body absorbs lead when someone breathes in lead dust fume or vapour; swallows lead, for example when they eat, drink, smoke or bite their nails without washing their hands and face. The HSE explains that lead is not absorbed through the skin, except in the form of lead alkyls – an additive to petrol – and lead naphthenate.
