An employment tribunal found Ball had been unfairly and wrongfully dismissed. The judge was critical of managers and HR advisors involved in his dismissal, finding they had “closed their minds to all possible explanations that did not fit their predetermined conclusions”. He said managers were “committed to one outcome only and that was to find the claimant guilty”. The tribunal later awarded him almost £40,000 in damages.
