Regular homeworking
[ch 1: page 6]• An employee would be classified as a regular homeworker when they spend around 50% of their contracted hours working from home.
• This is an agreement between the employer and employee.
• The employee and line-manager must have an agreement outlining what work is expected of them.
• This type of arrangement makes sense when the employee has to make frequent or regular off-site visits.
• A formal request for homeworking must be made to be a regular homeworker. Some organisations may have a form that has to be filled in and sent to management and HR for a written response.
• Some regular homeworkers may have more protections if they have a contract change stating home as their base.
