Chapter 6

Worksations during the Covid-19 pandemic

[ch 6: page 118]

The new BEIS/DCMS Covid workplace safety guidance advises employers they can mitigate the risk of Covid transmission by reducing the number of people workers come into contact with. In addition to using “fixed teams or partnering” or “cohorting”, employers should also review layouts, using screens or barriers to separate people who will come into close proximity with each other, or using back-to-back or side-to-side working, instead of face-to-face.

“Workstations should be assigned to an individual if possible,” it adds. “Often this will not be possible, and if they need to be shared, there should be ways to clean them between each user.”
