Bullying allegations

The Unite general union, which represents staff in the GMB general union’s North East, Yorkshire and Humberside (NEYH) region, has raised “serious allegations of bullying and harassment” of staff from the GMB, according to The Guardian newspaper.

The concern had reached a point where staff voted, in a consultative ballot, in favour of industrial action if they did not receive an adequate response.

Meanwhile, the #MeTU campaign group of women trade unionists has released video footage featuring a whistleblower from the NEYH region who had complained about being bullied and harassed. In the footage she alleges she has been threatened by senior GMB staff if she continues to press the issue.

The GMB said the issues would be investigated when it had received the information.

Comments were awaited from both unions as Labour Research went to press.
