Chapter 14

Faster hearing of simple money claims

[ch 14: page 517]

From 8 October 2020, cases involving simple, money-based claims can be listed for hearing more quickly. Notice of a final hearing in this kind of case (described as a “short-track” case) can be given before the due date for the employer’s Response Form ET3, as long as the final hearing is listed to take place no sooner than 14 days later. In future, this change could mean that for simple money claims, the parties get just a few weeks’ notice of a final hearing, hopefully increasing the settlement prospects for claimants.
