8. Reviewing workplace procedures
[ch 8: page 37]Mental health and wellbeing policies are generally only the start of what is required to foster a healthy workplace which supports people undergoing mental health problems. Many of the problems faced by such individuals come into play when subject to certain procedures, including sickness absence, disciplinary or capability procedures. Unions will want to ensure that these are reviewed to ensure they are supportive and understanding of mental health issues and do not lead to discrimination.
This section looks at adjusting existing procedures which may be particularly problematic to those experiencing mental ill health.
