3. Drugs and alcohol in the workplace — guidance for reps

There is plenty of guidance available to union reps facing, or pushing for, the introduction of new drug and alcohol policies or the revision of existing policies. This Chapter summarises the advice from official sources, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and advisory, conciliation and arbitration service Acas, together with guidance from the TUC and trade unions. Guidance from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is outlined in Chapter 2.
