Acas

At the same time, it will normally send a copy to the Advisory and Conciliation Service (Acas) who will make contact with you (and with your employer) using the details you have put on the form, to see whether you want to discuss settlement.

From April 2014, pre-claim conciliation by Acas is expected to be mandatory. That is, before a claim is issued in the tribunal, the claimant will have to agree to allow Acas up to a month to explore the possibility of a negotiated settlement.
