Equal pay audits
[ch 13: pages 94-95]One important way in which unions can persuade employers to address the issue of pay inequality is through conducting equal pay audits. In the public sector, some, but not all, public bodies with 150 or more employees have been subject to specific duties requiring the monitoring and reporting of equality information across all the protected characteristics since 2011 (see Chapter 19). In the private and voluntary sector, only gender-pay gap reporting is required, and only for an organisation with 250 or more employees (see below).
