Chapter 1

Fixing a date for the hearing

[ch 1: page 37]

Deciding on the hearing date is a process known as “listing”. Tribunals have great difficulty managing their hearing diary system, so as a general rule, once a hearing date has been fixed, it is very difficult to change. It is very important to give the tribunal written notice of any dates you, your witnesses, and if possible your chosen representative are unable to attend, before the hearing is fixed, and to make sure you bring this information with you to any preliminary hearing.
