Calculating time

If the time for bringing a claim runs from a period “beginning with” a particular date, as in unfair dismissal, that date is included in the calculation. So, if the date of dismissal is 15 January, the claim must be issued on or before 14 April.

If the time runs “following” a certain date, the date is excluded. So, if dismissal is 15 January, a claim for interim relief must be issued on or before 22 January (dismissal on a Friday means the interim relief claim must be made at the latest by the following Friday).
