[ch 10: page 371]Compensation for unfair dismissal has two main elements: a basic award and a compensatory award. There can also be an additional award where a tribunal orders reinstatement and the employer refuses. Awards are not high. The median award for unfair dismissal in 2017-18 was £8,015.
