Even if the complaint is not upheld, there may be a need to transfer or reschedule the work of one or other of the employees, as clearly there may be some problems in them working together. Sometimes an unfounded allegation of bullying and/or harassment may be made for malicious reasons. Such cases should also be investigated properly and dealt with fairly and objectively under the disciplinary procedure. Any investigation of bullying or harassment allegations must comply with the organisation’s discipline and grievance procedure (see the LRD booklet: Disciplinary and grievance procedures.
