11. STRESS, BULLYING AND VIOLENCE
Changes and developments since last year
• members of the teaching unions NUT and NASUWT and unions at the BBC, NUJ and BECTU, are among those to have taken strike action over bullying during the last year;
• cuts to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme (CICS) will reduce or withdraw compensation payments to many people injured as a result of work-related attacks. Those who suffer minor injuries will no longer get compensation under the new scheme which took effect in November 2012;
• the government announced in February 2013 that the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 will be extended to private property, meaning people like postal workers and telecom engineers will have protection under the law; although there is no timetable for implementing the new proposals.
