[ch 11: page 338]The employer must notify the Secretary of State of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) of all proposed redundancies of 20 or more employees. This is done using an HR1 form, sent to the Redundancy Payments Service, a division of the Insolvency Service, which is part of BIS. The time frame for this step matches the 30/45-day collective consultation period (see page 333).
