5. Dealing with individual cases of bullying and harassment
[ch 5: page 51]Dealing with individual cases of bullying and harassment can be difficult, but as the communications union CWU sets out, members are entitled to seek assistance and representation from their union. If a member comes to the union for help they should expect clear advice, and where appropriate, representation to help challenge the behaviours they are complaining about. All CWU reps representatives must attend a mandatory one-day equality and diversity training course and they are issued with guidance on how to deal with harassment sensitively and confidentially.
Union members being bullied or harassed are likely to need understanding and practical support to help them through a difficult time. The following section looks at advice on what individuals and union reps can do when faced with a case of bullying or harassment at their workplace.
