Chapter 6

National agreements/model policies

[ch 6: page 69]

A number of unions provide model policies to help their reps promote a working environment free from all forms of harassment and bullying. It can also be useful for reps to have actual examples to refer to.

The UCU points to a national agreement on bullying and harassment negotiated with the Association of Colleges (AoC) and all the recognised further education unions and the joint Equality Challenge Unit, UNISON and UCU document Dignity at work: a good practice guide for higher education institutions. Aberdeen University’s policy (revised in 2017) can be found on the university's website

Several employers have signed up to the musician’s union MU and Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM) Industry Code of Practice which details a set of principles to help employers meet their legal responsibilities and presents a shared vision for promoting and maintaining a positive working culture.
