[ch 6: page 166]Strike laws in the United Kingdom are among the most restrictive in the developed world. These laws became even harder to comply with when new balloting and notice provisions came into force on 1 March 2017, under in the Trade Union Act 2016 (TUA 16), described by the TUC as “the most serious attack on the rights of trade unions and their members in a generation”. This Chapter sets out the UK’s industrial action laws, including the changes introduced by the TUA 16.
